姜老师，这是我在第9课中的一些疑问，也请您给予指导~

14段，第1句

不知这里then指什么起什么作用？
一考通上翻译是“我对美国正在发生的暴乱并不感到耻辱”，参照这个翻译，也看不出 then在这里是指什么的。

16段，8行
it is part of the lip service every successful  Negro is obliged to pay to the notion of race progress whenever he achieves.
问题1，在您的PPT中看到 obliged to 相当于 has to，但我对整句的理解还是有些不确定，这里指的是 人们在成功时自然会带出的这个 pay the lip service to the nation of .... 效果，还是他们在成功时必须做出的这类口惠的行为的？

问题2， part of 在这里的意思是，"就是 ...... 的一部分"，还是 "就是那种.....", 也不能确定。

19段，8行
What I had often mistaken for pointless spoutings was in reality a manifestation of this desperate search for a truth about the riots.

对这句的理解可否改写成下面的句子，也能完美表达作者这里的写作意图呢。
It is a manifestation of this desperate search for a truth about the riots that I had often mistaken for pointless spoutings .

I was handed full manuscripts of .....,  
读到此想到，
这句能否用 be full of 同义替换，
改成My hand was full of manuscripts of ...... 没有问题，也能表达同类意思呢？
