Cervantes was a novelist,a dramatist and a poet.He began writing Don Quixote in 1602,and was published in 1605.
With  the publication of this book,the European novel entered a new stage.Don Quixote was a parody satirizing a very popular type of literature at the time,the romance of chivalry.it is recognized as the father of the modern European novel,and has had great impact on world literature.
